All eyes may turn to Times Square on New Year's Eve, but it isn't the only place worth going when the clock strikes midnight. In fact, there are plenty of fun and quirky ways to ring in the New Year right here in Georgia. Here are just a few of the best events happening on the night of Sunday, Dec. 31. The Perry Buzzard Drop While the Big Apple is famous for its yearly crystal ball drop, smaller towns throughout the rest of America have come up with their own unique twists on the tradition. Inspired by the Giant Bologna Drop in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, and the live possum drops of Brasstown, North Carolina, each year residents of Perry, Georgia, gather for the annual Perry Buzzard Drop. The Perry Buzzard Drop is a massive downtown party featuring live entertainment, spirits sold onsite and plenty of highly distinctive souvenir memorabilia. Up the Cup New Year's Eve Celebration Rather than dropping a ball (or buzzard), the residents of Savannah choose to raise a glass to the New Year. For the fifth straight year, the Savannah Waterfront Association is hosting its annual "Up the Cup" Countdown from 8 p.m. to midnight on historic River Street. In addition to the raising of the cup, the festivities will also include a digital light show and countdown clock, as well as a fireworks display after midnight, which should delight adults and children alike. Atlanta Symphony Orchestra New Year's Eve Concert The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is returning to Athens to ring in 2018 with another New Year's Eve Concert, after hundreds of revelers showed up to last year's big show. The 90-minute performance will be held at the University of Georgia's Hodgson Concert Hall, and promises to feature a fun and lively collection of pop favorites. Additionally, the show starts at 7 p.m., leaving attendees with ample time to get back to their New Year's Eve party before the clock strikes twelve. Be sure to purchase your tickets ahead of time. 14th Annual Downtown Countdown Step into the New Year in grand style with Atlanta's 14th Annual Downtown Countdown event at 200 Peachtree, the magnificent event space that will deliver a sumptuous NYE celebration. This elegant, black tie-optional evening will gather Atlanta's crème de la crème crowd in an extravagant NYE fete brimming with entertainment - think aerial performances - and fine party luxuries. As Atlanta's premier event venue, 200 Peachtree boasts a sprawling Whitehall Ballroom that combines stately historic architecture with contemporary swank. Every year we like to show appreciation to our staff by holding a Holiday Luncheon. During this time, we are able to spend time with our employees and show them how much they are appreciated. We also like to acknowledge the team members who go above and beyond everyday. This month we are pleased to announce Crystal Sherer as our Employee of the Year. Crystal is our Client Loyalty Manager at INFINITI of South Atlanta. Her positive attitude and ardent personality has made her stand out above the rest this month. On March 19th, INFINITI of South Atlanta participated as a Charter Sponsor at the Run for Color event to help raise proceeds for J.C. Booth Middle School. The event featured a 2k and 4k run and had over 400 participants join in on the fun while runners got showered with colored powder along the 2K/4K course.
INFINITI of South Atlanta was proud to be a Primary Sponsor alongside Piedmont Fayette Hospital and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at this year's Southside Soiree themed event "A Night in Monte Carlo". The event organized by Southside Support was a huge hit and helped to raise over $25,000 for the Autism Society. The event was held at The Loft at Due South. Southside is a non-profit that promotes health, welfare and inclusion for special need families. The Black Family Expo is a community initiative designed to address the disparities, needs and aspirations of the black community in the areas of education, health and wellness, and financial literacy and prosperity. INFINITI of South Atlanta partnered with Cornerstone Baptist Church for a three-day convention on April 18-20th. The convention supplied the 5th District, a subsidiary of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, with special training to help develop mentors for our youth. The three-day training was a foundation for identifying, planning and executing strategies to help youth avoid gangs, drugs, jails and dropping out of schools.
INFINITI of South Atlanta was a proud Tournament Sponsor at the 6th Annual Golf Tournament & Scholarship Fundraising Weekend. The event was put on by Lincoln University's (MO) Atlanta Chapter and took place June 2 - 5, 2016. The weekend kicked off with a Thursday evening Meet & Greet for sponsors, alumni, family and friends who came to Atlanta to participate in the event. The golf tournament was held on Friday with a Blue & White Affair reception on Saturday evening & ended with a Worship Service on Sunday morning. Funds raised during the weekend will support the education of Atlanta-area high school graduates who will attend Lincoln University of Missouri; currently enrolled Lincoln University students from the Atlanta area; and the overall betterment of the Institution.
INFINITI of South Atlanta is proud to partner with Bridging the Gap Community Outreach, Inc. and will be donating a portion of the proceeds from each vehicle sold this month in order to support Coweta families and individuals in need. Bridging the Gap Community Outreach (BTG), Inc. is a non-profit organization that serves over 1,000 people in need each month through their food distribution program. BTG has been meeting the needs of Coweta families and individuals since 2009 by distributing food, toiletries, and household items every Saturday without condition to those willing to see change in their personal circumstances.
